Tiramisu Balls

admin, December 3, 2025December 3, 2025

Tiramisu balls are a brilliant and super quick way to enjoy the creamy, coffee-y flavor of the classic Italian dessert, without baking and in a portionable form.

This recipe usually combines the flavors of baby sponge or crushed biscuits, mascarpone cream and coffee, then rolled in cocoa powder.

Here is a recipe for the perfect, creamy Tiramisu ball:

☕ Tiramisu Balls (No Bake)
This recipe yields about $20-25 medium balls.

I. Ingredients
Component Quantity Function
Mascarpone cheese $250 \text{ g}$ Room temperature.
Icing sugar $50-80 \text{ g}$ To taste, for the mascarpone.
Baby sponge cake $150 \text{ g}$ Grind or crush into crumbs.
Strong coffee/espresso $40-50 \text{ ml}$ Cooled (strong, black).
Coffee liqueur (e.g. Amaretto) $1 \text{ tsp}$ Optional, but recommended to enhance the flavor.
Vanilla extract $1 \text{ tsp}$
Cocoa powder Approx. $50 \text{ g}$ For the coating (unsweetened).
II. Preparation

  1. Prepare the Base
Crushing: Grind the baby sponge cake or put it in a bag and crush it into fine crumbs with a whisk.
Mascarpone Cream: In a bowl, mix the mascarpone, powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
Additions: Pour the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) into the mascarpone cream. Mix well.
  2. Assemble the Dough
Crushed Sponge Cake: Add the crushed baby sponge cake to the mascarpone cream.
Mixing: Mix by hand or with a spatula until you have a moldable mass. The mass may be soft at first, but the sponge cake will absorb the liquid.
  3. Shaping and Cooling

Cooling 1 (Important): Wrap the mass in foil and place in the refrigerator for at least $1 \text{ hour}$. Cold mass is much easier to shape into balls.
Shaping: Take a teaspoon (or small spoonful) of mass and quickly shape it into a ball in the palm of your hand.
Cocoa coating: Immediately roll the balls one by one in the unsweetened cocoa powder prepared in the bowl.
  4. Serving
Place the finished balls, coated with cocoa powder, on a plate.
Cooling 2: Refrigerate until serving, as they are best served cold.
These balls are perfect as a dessert or with coffee! Enjoy your meal!
